You’ve found our ‘about us’ page. I guess that means you feel like you need to know something about us. We’re just a couple of guys that talked about how it would be nice if there was a place near by to get ice, of course we were drinking Irish car bombs so that encouraged some free thinking. While at the camp, we found that we were running short of ice, our camp alone goes through four to five hundred pounds a weekend, that’s (72) 7 pound bags, at $3.49 a piece just for our camp. We’re giving $250.00 plus, a week to a stranger, for inferior ice formulated to melt faster (yep, that’s a thing) and is made from water, that comes from who knows where, made, bagged and handled by who knows who. Then it’s thrown on a pallet, fork lifted into a storage freezer, forklifted again to get on the refrigerated delivery truck, manhandled by the sweaty laborer that loads it into the distributors merchandiser, stored and pilfered through by anyone who asks for the key. You get the point, the potential for all sorts of disgusting things is everywhere from the moment the ice hits the bag. But I digress. We ran some numbers through our pickled brains and decided it would be in our best interest to put that money in OUR pockets, before we knew it, we were in the ice business. I mean to tell ya, there’s a good bit more to it than I expected. I’m Don Brade, my partner in crime is Luke Henderson, in 2024 the hairbrained idea to build a portable, nearly passive ice vending unit came to us and, in January 2025, Festival Water and Ice was born with the purchase of our first machine. A used 2022 Everest VX-4 that we travelled to north Alabama to purchase. As we continue down this road, we’ll keep you posted, share pictures and a few stories. Hope you enjoy the ride, we know we’ll enjoy having you along.
